The following is a list of prizes and awards in the Department of Psychology.

The awards are automatically computed for all graduating students and are awarded at Convocation.


Dr. G.P Brooks History of Psychology Prize

Awarded to a student demonstrating outstanding achievement in the History of Psychology course. In addition to receiving the award, a monetary prize is also given.


Canadian Council of Canadian Departments of Psychology Teaching Assistant Award

Awarded to a graduating psychology student. The award is limited to teaching assistants.


CPA Certificate of Academic Excellence

Awarded to a graduating student for the best undergraduate thesis in psychology.


E. George Nichols Prize in Psychology

Awarded to a student demonstrating outstanding achievement in Statistics and Sensation and Perception courses within the Psychology program. In addition to receiving the award, a monetary prize is also given.


F.A Surbey Prize in Psychology

Awarded to a graduating student in psychology with the highest cumulative grade point average undertaking a major in psychology with a minor in biology. In addition to receiving the award, a monetary prize is also given.


Dr. Karen Nicholson Psychology Prize

Awarded to a graduating psychology student with the highest averaged grade for the following two courses offered by the Department of Psychology (Biopsychology and Human Neuropsychology). In addition to receiving the award, a monetary prize is also given.


The New Brunswick School Trustees Association Scholarship

Eligible students will be contacted during their final year and asked to apply for this scholarship, which is limited to:

  • students who graduated from a New Brunswick high school
  • graduating students in a program directly related to the education or who are pursuing post graduate studies directly related to the education of children
  • and who plan to seek employment in their field in the province of New Brunswick

Student research grants and awards

There are a number of student research grants and awards offered at MtA through Independent Student Research Grants.
