Collège d'Enseignement Général et Professionnel (CEGEP) A maximum of 30 credits for courses completed through CEGEP. The number of credits transferred depends on the number of CEGEP courses completed. Official, final transcripts must be received before the transfer credit process can be completed.

Transfer credits from post-secondary studies

If you're currently enrolled at another post-secondary institution or have taken post-secondary courses in the past, you may be eligible to apply as a transfer or mature student.

Mount Allison will transfer up to 60 credits of post-secondary courses. To determine how many transfer credits you're eligible for, a transfer credit evaluation needs to be done by the Registrar's Office. You must be accepted to Mount Allison before a transfer credit evaluation can be completed.

To get a transfer credit evaluation:

  • Apply and accept your offer of admission to Mount Allison
  • Official transcript(s) should be forwarded directly to the Registrar's Office by your issuing institution
  • Submit course descriptions of any courses you wish to receive credit for: advisor@mta.ca

Pathway agreements with Mount Allison

Mount Allison has collaborated with other post-secondary institutions to provide an opportunity for students who have completed a two-year diploma or degree to be admitted to Mount Allison with second or third-year standing. Pathway agreements allow you to easily make the transition from college to university.

FAQs about transfer credits

Transfer credit evaluations are completed by the Registrar's Office. Below are frequently asked questions about transfer credits. Have a question that is not listed? Contact our academic advisors: advisor@mta.ca.

When do I get my transfer credits?

The transfer credit process will begin once the registration deposit has been paid, and official, final transcripts have been received.

Can I still take a course for which I got credit?

Some students choose to repeat courses for which they receive credit, particularly in their intended field of study. In this case, simply enroll in the courses as soon as possible. You'll be able to change your registration later once your transfer credit assessment is complete.

How to I register for courses with prerequisites before I get my transfer credits?

You'll not be able to use transfer credits to register for courses with prerequisites until your credits have been added to your Mount Allison transcript. Students are strongly advised to register for courses as soon as possible. Course registration can be adjusted once your transfer credit assessment is complete.

If you have questions about registering for courses before your credits are transferred, you can contact an academic advisor: advisor@mta.ca.

How are transfer credits recorded on my transcript?

Transfer credits will be recorded with a grade of P (Pass) or CP (Conditional Pass) on your Mount Allison transcript.

For prerequisite requirements:

  • Transfer credits with a grade of P qualify as equivalent to a grade of C- for purposes of fulfilling prerequisite requirements
  • Transfer credits with a grade of CP can't be used to fulfill prerequisite requirements

Non-designated — often applied to transfer credits, means that the credit value is recognized and granted for the course even though no Mount Allison offering was selected as the direct equivalent. Non-designated transfer credits are not recorded with a grade on your transcript.

Transfer credits are excluded from your Mount Allison grade point average calculations.
