Celebrating Pride Week on Campus

14 Sep 2023
MASU prepares for an exciting week of activities to amplify the 2SLGBTQ+ community

Mount Allison is excited to celebrate Pride with a week of activities organized by the Mount Allison Students’ Union (MASU). Pride Week kicks off with a flag raising on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. at the Chapel. Celebrated each year when students return to campus, Pride events will take place on campus and throughout Sackville.

“While we recognize June as Pride Month, it is important to us that we hold space for new students to celebrate and embrace queer identities as new members of the Mount Allison community,” says Cailean Clements, MASU Student Life Coordinator.

Faculty, staff, students, and alumni are welcome to attend, celebrate, and learn about issues facing the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

“The various events planned for the week seek to promote visibility and inclusivity of individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities, while also calling attention to the progress that remains in order to ensure that our community is a safe and welcoming space for all,” says Clements. “Our annual Pride Week celebrations represent Mount Allison and the broader Tantramar community’s commitment to this effort. Please join in solidarity to celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community this Pride Week, and every week!”
